"While recently walking through a sea of stones in a desert wash my eye was drawn to one modest sized rock in particular. I picked it up and examined it carefully. Striations of different colors were banded evenly around the entire surface of this stone, the product of centuries of being washed and baked undisturbed. After studying this unremarkable specimen [there were thousands like it nearby] I carefully placed it back where I found it. This rock will find it’s way into my work referentially as one of thousands of images recorded and sorted unconsciously to emerge extemporaneously as my abstract construct of the nature of things." |
