Form, rhythm, and contrast all work both together and against each other to make my paintings work in a controlled dynamic manner. I use highly saturated colors that sometimes clash to control perceived spatial relationships. As colors move back and forth against each other they beat in a musical fashion. Lines intertwine between background and foreground drawing the viewer deeper into the texture of the matrix.

My painting is musical. My life as a musician is visual. My musical compositions have distinct visual components, and as a painter I hear music. The improvised line in music and painting are inextricably linked.

I am an optimist. I believe my creative source is inherently positive. The intrinsic nature of my work exploits the joyous possibilities of both the meditative process and extemporaneous gesture. Creativity is health.
